Just over three months ago, I introduced the idea of the Developer Walk here. In the meantime, the first Developer Walk took place in beautiful Saxon Switzerland in fantastic weather with 13 participants.
On Saturday, September 19, 2015, at 8:30 a.m., all participants staying at the Dorint Hotel set off toward the Elbe to meet the Dresden part of the group there.
Under a blue sky, the first part of the Developer Walk started punctually at 9:30 a.m. with a paddle steamer trip to Rathen. Alongside information about the region and its people, the time during the trip was also used to get to know one another. After all, there was a lot to talk about, since some people had not seen each other for quite a while, while others had not met at all until that day.
After arriving in Rathen, the group first gathered for the obligatory group photo and then fortified themselves with a bratwurst for the long ascent to the Bastei.
The steep climb to the second stage destination was accompanied by wide-ranging views over Saxon Switzerland and, depending on the participant, crowned by either a late lunch or an early coffee break.
After around two hours there, full of laughter, wit, and charm, it was time to descend via the Schwedenlöcher.
Back in Dresden, the final part of the Developer Walk ended just as spontaneously as it had begun.
Many thanks go to all participants. Through their commitment, they made the first Developer Walk a memorable day and gave all of us a wonderful and enjoyable time. Early feedback already suggests a repeat in 2016.
